I'm back posting again!

I am back from my hiatus from posting. I am still studying website design and marketing and it has been tough. I worked on a project that took a few months to complete for someone else; the time just flew by. I have added another affiliate business to my portfolio; a web store for pet supplies. I loved it when I first set eyes on it. It is simple and has discounted pricing. Go check it out to purchase pet needs or to come on board as a store owner.

Time To Get Back To Work

I have been extremely busy during the holidays with the family; we have lots of little ones (grandsons) this year that just figured out what Christmas is. In the past three weeks I have put work on the back burner and enjoyed baking cookies and waiting for Santa to eat them, decorating a tree with a 3 and 4 year old, attended the graduation of my son, Sean, from Western Kentucky University (WKU) and now in a week or so a new baby will be arriving (Sean again). Visit my MySpace at www.myspacecom/wkunyer and check out the photo albums.

I promise next week I will get back to business and update you on the online business and how it's going. Until then, have a Happy New Year!

Social Media Networks

I have been reading my web course work and practicing what I read. I signed up for another blog at thoughts.com for some personal writing. I learned to pitch my work with Stumble Upon, Digg, Reddit and Scribd. I am also working on another blog HowToSaveTips here on blogger. I have to apply to a webmaster for approval to add their info which will help everyone save money. I think my content will get approved, we'll see. I have chosen to ask each person who has info I want to show on my sites, their permission. I received one for his video (this will stop someone from taking their info off you site) and I am asking a very large chain of stores to allow a link. In their small print it says you can but that they would like you to alert them first.

So that's it, I am still reading and I will report later.

Wrong Choice

Well, I admit defeat. I had looked into a "free" website from Yourbizwebsites. Gave you the site alright but then spammed you everyday sometimes more to take their Fast Track program. No help on the site for new people and their automated (live support, uh huh) support was a window that repeating the same sales pitch for fast track program. Even when I said I am done with your program; it kept saying the same thing. I went to my email and unsubscribed. I'll stay with my original web course and keep working away on it.

Woodstock 1969

I guess you might wonder where that title came from. Does it have anything to do with this blog? No. If you knew me back then, you would not have guessed I would be in such a conservative business as commercial mortgage brokering and working toward a successful online business. Most of us have changed since our youth in the 60's, but looking back was fun for the moment. I have been working on my Squidoo lens about Joe Cocker and well, I was just going to look on YouTube for a little bit and I stumbled upon (no pun on the words - I really Stumbled the site) a great Woodstock site and you know Joe Cocker sang there. I got lost tonight in nostalgia just listening to music and thinking about the Viet Nam years. Changes were brought about quickly with our movement and we can never forget.

It's time, I will have to get back to that search and replace again, I have procrastinated long enough. I have many sites to finish before they can go online. Anybody out there want to help? I am in a great mood from the music so I might as well get working, see if I can finish another site tonight.

Open, Click HTML tab, Paste, Replace, Save, Close

The title says it all. I decided to start working on the affiliate sites that are given to me each week through my purchased affiliate program. So far the program has been great until I needed to use the link to download the search and replace utility. I needed to get my AdSense ID placed in the new sites. Easy enough, I thought. Well, my first defeat was that the program would not download and froze my Internet Explorer. Okay, I Control, Alt, Delete; cancel program not responding in task manager. I figure that just maybe, since it was a free utility, that I would easily find in online. Second defeat! Oh, it was out there on many sites and none of them would download.

I pondered, what of all the collected programs I have would work to replace the text in my affiliate site pages with my AdSense ID? Answer, None! Not one of my many collections of programs would do multiple files, folders or zip files of html. Finally, I get a brainstorm. I opened up a program I purchased in a bundle deal called NVU. The site manager allowed for search and replace of html. I was excited because I thought I saw a place I could do multiple pages. Well, it can but I can't. If my websites were already live then I could change multiple pages with replacement content. Back to square one I thought.

Finally, after exploration of the drop-downs I find a search and replace. You think I would be happy - Not! I had to open each and every one of the 172 files and manually change. Thank goodness it had an option of replace all. I started last night about 9pm and just finished at 8 am. I got one site done. I have 14 more to go and they add five new ones each week.

So for now, I will be dreaming, Open, click html tab, paste id in box, replace all, save, close, and notate. I bet I am not a novice in that anymore!

What Have I Been Doing With My Websites

In the last few days I have been studying the affiliate program I purchased. They offer Video Tutorials and I just worked hard getting through Part 1; it has 15 videos!

I learned or at least viewed (lol) all 15! The material included SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Java Script to file, file size for Search Engine results, how to: name files with search phrase in mind, structure title tags, use Meta Keywords tag, use heading tag for SEO, structure main page content, check and optimize keyword density, optimize graphics for the search engines, structure page links for better optimiazation, optimize links with the title tag, validate html code, automatically validate all links on a site, and finally, avoid common SEO pitfalls.

Is that 15 titles, I hope so. So, you see I have been learning to make money online by learning the correct way to set things up. I know you all believe I learned it all, lol, but I did watch the tutorials and made separate page notes so I can go back and refer to them when it is time for me to do each thing.

I also did myself a favor; I created an Excel spreadsheet with all the sites I have visited, signed into, or got code from with User/Id/name and passwords. That sheet also included sites referred in my reading that I have not yet gone to. As I go along I take notes and then add them to the sheet at the end of the day. It's up to 200 already and I haven't even added today's.

I did stop in the middle of all this to attend my daughter-in-law's baby shower. After having 5 sons and 3 grandsons; she is giving us our first baby girl in January. We are all excited.

All I have thought about since purchasing the affiliate program is to sit down and learn it. I am not going to be an online novice about websites that make money. I do have to say, you must be self-desciplined and ambitious to get through this program.

In the program I am given 5 new affiliate sites to download, set-up and implement, each week. I have been with the program for 3 weeks now and have 15 sites downloaded and ready for me. Note, however, these are the affiliate products of the programs owner; I will get commissions on his products and my Adsense income. That means that I have to pay for hosting and set them up from scratch myself. They will be my own sites. This program is about getting you up and running your own home based business (so what if they make some money off me with their affiliate sites) I will be hosting them when I have the money. Funny, I will have the money by the time I get through all the set-ups and modifying. Oh, where will I find the time! They host the 11 original affiliate sites (which are sub-domains and limited) and the 3 review sites (also sub-domians). You get to pratice on them.

I plan in the future to be able to write and publish knowledgeable articles for others once this program is learned.

I feel a bit funny about posting to a blog that no one has seen as of yet but I think I feel a visitor coming. Come back again!

Now You can See Who I am

I placed my pic on this blog so you can see who I am. I added the News Reel gadget to offer the latest tech news and I like it very much; what do you think so far of my first time designing? As an online novice I am not ever really sure if I am following any rules or breaking all of them.

Ever Happen to You? Get Lost Online for Hours

Today's adventures online started innocently enough. I happened upon a site Squidoo and got so caught up in it that I ended up with 2 lenses (pages) created. So much for studying my program.

Please go see them; they were free to make:
http://www.squidoo.com/online-biz--make-money-online--biz-websites and
http://www.squidoo.com/MusicToFeel-JoeCocker ( I know, where did that come from, lol)
This site will also evaluate your pages and give you step by step corrective measures. These pages can be used to link to this blog and back to them so it was not a lost day. Traffic building!

They need some work but boy did I learn some important information:
How to add RSS feeds to a site,
How to copyright your online work at: http://www.creativecommons.org/ - you can choose what license you want for your work. Go and see it - oh and its free.
I put up another affiliate site: http://yourbizwebsites.com/wkunyer/ take a peek. Like I said in the beginning, I am going to learn slow but sure and maybe become Queen for a Day in the online world. Stay tuned for more - I think once a week I will try to review and explain some of the things I have listed in this blog with more detail.

Keyword Tools and Blogs

I learned yesterday about Keyword searches. Today, I have been using the tips I have been taught to practice with each tool such as the Google Keyword Tool and Overture (Yahoo). I still need some practice but it is very surprising what information is available for online marketers. I have visited several websites regarding info on the Blogosphere including Google Blogsearch, Feedster and Technorati. If this post does not seem to clear as those before it is because I have reached the capacity of my own personal learning curve and things are starting to get harder to implement. More to come tomorrow.
